What exactly is the power of a Facebook “like,” a Twitter mention or a Pinterest board? How do you, as a marketing professional, take advantage of social media tools and technologies to engage with your customers? Social media can feel like alphabet soup—which is why UCSC Extension’s Marketing program is excited to introduce the Professional Award in Social Media Marketing: to prepare you to create effective campaigns that capitalize on the latest advancements in social media.

When Facebook was initially launched in 2004, few predicted that it would become an advertising powerhouse. Twelve years later, nearly 90% of American companies use Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites to launch and promote their brands, according to McKinsey Global Institute. And who do they employ to accomplish these tasks? Social media marketers equipped to create dynamic campaigns, evaluate the latest tools, and fine-tune messaging to attract their target audience.
UCSC Extension’s Professional Award in Social Media Marketing is designed to prepare marketing professionals with the skills necessary to launch an effective social media campaign that aligns with business goals, cultivate a growing audience, and keep pace with industry demands. In just three courses, you’ll have acquired a skill set that will enable you to market products and services using the latest tools and technologies.
Upon completing this Professional Award, you will be able to develop your own social media campaigns and have an overall understanding of social media and its potential.
To obtain the Professional Award in Social Media Marketing, you must successfully complete Fundamentals, Social Media Marketing, Advanced Social Media Marketing, and Capstone: Social Media, with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
